Whales
In my early teens, I used some of my first babysitting earnings to join Greenpeace to stop the hunting of whales. When I lived in Hawaii, I would sit on the beach watching the Humpbacks breach. It seemed like they were showing off for the humans. Now that hunting whales is mostly outlawed, I believe whales are more openly expressive. I have painted two images celebrating whales.

Octopus
I will always remember an encounter I had with an Octopus while snorkeling in the ocean around Maui. When I was 14, the gorgeous and imposing cephalopod and I hovered in place watching each other just a short distance apart. Ever since then I have had great respect and curiosity about this sea dweller.
